Installing AnduinOS 1.4 🐧 looking around

AnduinOS 1.4
AnduinOS 1.4 is the latest "Standard" branch release, built upon the updated package base of Ubuntu 25.10 ("Questing") and featuring the contemporary GNOME 49 desktop environment, all powered by the modern Linux kernel 6.17. This non-LTS version is recommended for users on newer hardware who want the latest features, maintaining the distribution's core focus on a Windows 11-like user experience designed to ease the transition for former Windows users. While its ISO remains small and emphasizes privacy by gathering no telemetry, this specific release has a standard 9-month support cycle, leveraging Flatpak for graphical applications to keep the base system clean and secure.

The most significant change in AnduinOS 1.4 is the complete transition away from the older X11 display server, making Wayland the sole display serverβ€”a major shift inherited from the upstream Ubuntu 25.10 base that enhances security and graphical performance. Key updates include the bump to GNOME 49 and Linux Kernel 6.17, the adoption of sudo-rs as the default sudo command for improved security, and a swap in default applications such as replacing the terminal with Ptyxis and adding Gnome Papers as the default PDF viewer. These architectural and component updates represent a large step toward modernizing the system's core.
