Rasterization
In raster, the two cards are close. The RX 6950 XT is roughly equal to the 9070 XT in some benchmarks and slightly behind in others — typically within 5–10% at 1440p and 4K. RDNA 2’s raw compute was ahead of its time, and the 6950 XT still delivers serious raster performance.
The 9070 XT matches or beats it in most titles thanks to RDNA 4’s improved efficiency and IPC. At 4K, both cards are strong, though the 9070 XT edges ahead in the newest titles where its architecture is better optimized.
For pure rasterization, they’re nearly tied. The 9070 XT wins by a small margin.
Ray tracing
Ray tracing is where the 9070 XT pulls ahead decisively. RDNA 4’s RT hardware is two generations newer than RDNA 2’s, and the performance gap is enormous — often 2x or more in RT-heavy titles.
