The 9060 XT comes in 8GB and 16GB versions on a 128-bit bus with roughly 2,048 stream processors and FSR 4. Same bus width, but very different generations and one crucial variable — VRAM.
In rasterized gaming, the 9060 XT leads by a healthy margin — often 25–40% at 1080p and 1440p — thanks to RDNA 4’s improved architecture and higher clocks. The 4060 was always a modest card, and a full generation gap shows. In ray tracing, the 9060 XT also wins in most tests, though the margin narrows at 1080p where the 4060’s mature RT cores still hold their own. With DLSS 3, the 4060 can close some of the gap in supported titles, but FSR 4 is dramatically better than FSR 3 and mostly neutralizes that advantage. In VRAM, the 9060 XT 16GB wins outright — 16GB versus 8GB — which matters at 1440p ultra textures and in modern AAA titles. Even the 9060 XT 8GB matches the 4060’s capacity. In power draw, both cards are efficient — around 115W for the 4060 and roughly 150W for the 9060 XT — but the 4060 is cooler and quieter. In features, the 4060 brings DLSS 3, better RT, CUDA, and NVENC. The 9060 XT counters with FSR 4, newer RT hardware, and typically a lower price.
Short version: 9060 XT for raw performance, VRAM, and value. 4060 for efficiency, cooler thermals, and CUDA work.
Choose 9060 XT if you want more performance and VRAM for the money, mostly play raster games, or plan to keep the card for several years — get the 16GB version.
